Vacation like the President

Growing up, most Americans dream of becoming President of the United States. Although only few will actually achieve that dream, there’s nothing stopping you from taking a vacation like one. Throughout history, presidential vacations have spanned the country, from small houses in Martha’s Vineyard to expansive ranches in Crawford Texas. Here’s a list of a few Presidents’ top vacation spots – I personally recommend the Caribbean.

  • Hawaii: From golfing to surfing, President Barack Obama has not only called Hawaii his birthplace, but has also used it as a great getaway during the holidays. Full of gorgeous beaches and year-round temperate weather, you can’t go wrong in Hawaii.
  • Martha’s Vineyard: Both the Obamas and the Clintons have used Martha’s Vineyard as a vacation spot. Situated off the south of Cape Cod in New England, this once-quaint island has now become popular with celebrities from all over the country and world…as well as many politicians.
  • Santa Barbara, CA: Former President Reagan used his ranch in Santa Barbara as both a vacation home and diplomatic retreat. Today, Santa Barbara has it all: a stunning beach, ample shopping, and a fabulous nightlife.
  • Florida: Richard Nixon loved his house in Key Biscayne, Florida, and spent many vacations there during his presidency. The Florida Keys are a popular vacation destination, with each island providing a unique atmosphere for visitors and residents.
  • Caribbean: The Clintons visited the island of St. Thomas during one of their vacations while President Clinton was in office. There are many different islands located throughout the Caribbean, providing families and couples on any budget a memorable and cheap vacation spot. The warm breezes and ample beaches provide visitors with the perfect setting for rest and relaxation.

Even though you may not be able to live in the White House, it is possible to experience a part of the presidency by vacationing like one in the Caribbean. Whether you’re traveling with your significant other or your family, you can find a presidential vacation that fits both your taste and your budget.
